Find the missing pentomino piece that will connect to the four gray pieces on the game board in the way described from the instruction list.

If the piece is also touching sides, the corner is not counted.

• Get out the Plastic Pentomino Set.

• Choose Game Board 1.

• Read one of the instructions from the list.
• Find plastic pentomino pieces that will touch all four gray pentomino pieces (on the game board)
  in the following ways:
• 5 sides and 2 corners. (2)
  • The (2) means two pieces (of the 12 pentomino pieces) will fit with these directions. Only one piece will fit at a time. But, there are two pieces that will fit according to those directions.

• Choose a pentomino piece.

• Place it on the Game Board.
• Count how many sides of the gray pieces
  are touching the missing piece (the plastic yellow piece).
• Count how many corners of the gray pieces are touching the missing piece.
• In this example, you would count 4 sides and
  1 corner.

• Rotate the piece to try a different position on the game board.

• Count the sides (2 this time).
• Count the corners (3 this time).

• This time, flip the pentomino and place on the game board.

• Count the sides (3 this time).
• Count the corners (2 this time).

• Flip and rotate.
• Count the sides (3 this time).
• Count the corners (2 this time).
• NOTE: This would NOT count because the (yellow) pentomino is only touching 3 of the gray pentominoes on the game board. It MUST touch all 4 to count.

• Move it down one square.
• Count the sides (3 this time).
• Count the corners (2 this time).

• Move it down one more square.
• Count the sides (5 this time).
• Count the corners (2 this time).

  You did it! You found one of the pentomino pieces that touch 5 sides and 2 corners. Can you find the other pentomino piece?
